A rather pale grey adult, with the brownish old scapulars obvious different from the recently replaced grey feathers. Larus fuscus fuscus 5cy CKP0, July 09 2003, Tampere, Finland (61.33N 24.59E). CKP0 was ringed in Kanala, Finland (61,54N 24,33E); ringed as pullus on July 01 1999. Hand when ringed: 240 mm. Ringed as pullus at Kanala, Finland on July 01 1999, now in 5cy. Adult fuscus with small size, slender bill, dark upper-parts which turn brown hued when older and worn, lack of moult in the scapulars, wing-coverts and the primaries and small white tips on the outer primaries, which wear away quickly. The red spot on the bill extends on the upper mandible. In all respects a typical adult, with a low score in primary moult, PMS 1: P1 missing, P2-P10 old. See also: CKP3. |
