Larus fuscus fuscus adult J52E, December 08 2009, Ashdod, Israel. Picture: Yoav Perlman. J52E was ringed in northern Norway, trapped as breeding adult (4+cy, sex unknown) on the nest. At the time of ringing, the subspecies of Lesser Black-backed Gull was not sure, but now this individual turned up in Israel, it is most likely Larus fuscus fuscus. It was ringed on June 30 2007, at Heimlaukøya Lemmingsvær, Tranøy, Troms, Norway (69°01'36"N 016°52'35"E). It was seen once on its way to the wintering grounds, seen in Finland at Forssa, on October 03 2009 by Petri Salo. This is straight southwards from the breeding grounds, through inland Norway and Sweden, just south of Tampere in SW Finland. More information about migration strategies in Norwegian fuscus and the ringing programme in the three northern counties of Norway: Nordland, Troms and Finnmark, can be found here: The summary for juveniles can be found in the fuscus 1cy October section, the summary for adults can be found in the fuscus adult October section. Probably ringed in the same series as J20E. |
