Larus fuscus fuscus C04C, August 06-10 2002 & July 07-17 2003, Tampere, Finland (61.33N 24.59E). C04C was ringed in Ylöjär, Finland (61,60N 23,71E); ringed as pullus on July 08 1997. Hand when ringed: 210 mm. Ringed as pullus at Ylojar, Finland on July 08 1997, now (2003) in 7cy. A representative for the adult fuscus by mid-July. Most striking are the small size (probably a female), the dark upper-parts which turn brown hued when older and worn, the lack of moult in the scapulars, wing-coverts and the primaries and the small white tips on the outer primaries, which wear away quickly. The basic moult hasn't started yet, as all the primaries are still old. Note the strong brown hue on the old rear scapulars and the the old central greater coverts and compare with the cold dark grey fresh outer upper scapulars and the central median coverts.
