Larus fuscus fuscus 3cy, March 25 2011, Ashdod, Israel. Picture Amir Ben Dov.
Active primary moult. In the left wing: P6 just replaced, with a large white tip. P7-P8 missing, P9-P10 recently replaced as well, P10 still growing, showing a white mirror. This bird is in active moult at two locations in the primaries, which may explain the moult contrast in many birds we see in Finland by late May. Bill largely dark and much streaking on the head. Legs grey-yellow. |
