Larus fuscus fuscus J007K 2CY, February 01 2014, Ashdod, Israel. Picture: Amir Ben Dov. Black ring with white code J007K and metal NOS 4268607. Species: Lesser Black-backed Gull Larus fuscus, ringed as pullus on July 27 2013 in the mixed colony (grey and blackish mantled birds) at Heimlaukøya Lemmingsvær, Tranøy, Troms, Norway (69°01'36"N 016°52'35"E) by ringer Arild Breistøl. Recoveries: Bird in active moult, with scaps replaced and now moult in the coverts and upper tertials. Would be interesting to see what will be the extent of this moult by May-June. New coverts overall still dark, but already it is clear this bird will develop barred covert patterns. And the scaps are not classic fuscus either (plain brown with simple dark shaft wedge); this bird has anchor patterns, like in many intermedius. below: map and table with composition of fuscus - intermedius colonies in N Norway.
